Maternity Family Session at Rotary Park-The Linleys
27 Jun 2021
I find myself making connections to the families I photograph because regardless of who the family is, there is always something that is shared amongst us. I had the absolute pleasure of a session with the Linley family, a military family stationed here at Ft. Campbell; dad, Steven is a 13B Cannon Crew member whose main responsibility is the Howitzer Cannon (Google it--it's cool!!) The Linley family--Steven, Maribel, and Everleigh (2) were awaiting the arrival of their newest kin. I couldn't help but remember when my family was in a similar position. My oldest son was also 2 when I was pregnant with our second; it was a bittersweet time as I knew that the closer we got to meeting this new special person, it would be the end of my time as "just Adrian and mama." Everyone in the family goes through a transition especially older sibling. My heart goes out to firstborns as they go through this huge transition oftentimes when they are so little themselves. Thankfully, mom and dad were well equipped and so loving.
Dad's sense of humor and light-heartedness kept the session fun! He was obviously very well trained to toddler energy and Everly's joyful nature. Toddler attempting to eat rocks? Quick daddy hands to scoop em out her mouth. Toddler running at the speed of light towards the water? Super daddy to the rescue! Mom had a quiet and strong confidence that I still can't get over. I could picture her getting everyone out of a house on fire and then taking them all out for ice cream without missing a beat. Come to find out--she's a former Marine!! It's beautiful to see the strengths of so many different mamas and their pasts before they had kiddos.
This session was taken a few months ago and since these photos were taken, the Linley family has welcomed their beautiful new baby boy-- Damien Kai.
Sending much love to the Linleys for this new chapter of their lives. Thank you to both Steven and Maribel for your service and for trusting me with your memories!
