Family Session- The Gutierrez Family
27 April 2021
Everything could be in preparation for a photo session-- wardrobe, location, date, and time. One of the factors that will always remain out of our control though is weather. So when the forecast shows a 90% chance of rain, the idea of doing an outdoor family session with a 4-month old baby goes out the window!
Normally in this situation, we would reschedule but in this case, we were on a timeline! So finding alternative locations was a must. I wanted a place with lots of natural light which also had covering to ensure everyone stayed nice and dry.
After some professional Googling and Pinterest-ing, I came across photos taken at the Garden Center of a Lowe's. I knew there would be some challenges like other customers and some not so aesthetically pleasing objects (i.e. huge yellow caution cones in random aisles), I also knew there would be lots of potential!
Thankfully, Mama Taytum was open and so willing to go with me on this idea! It didn't surprise me though because Taytum and I first met when we did a session for her and hubby, Armando, and she wanted to do something more creative than your typical shoot... blog post on this coming soon!
The Gutierrez family is a military family here at Fort Campbell. Taytum and Armando are high school sweet hearts, and their love is evident without huge, showy displays of affection. Armando is an active duty soldier and Taytum started up her own baking business and has already seen so much success (page will be linked below)! Also, can I just say that when I completely forgot my camera batteries and had to run back home before the session (won't make that mistake again!), Taytum and Armando were so understanding and patient. "We're all human and forget things" was Taytum's gracious response to me.
Kayden and Anden are two of the cutest little boys that have personalities to match! Kayden could basically be a kid model because he will smile the biggest smile on cue and I mean, look at him! Anden, at only 4 months old, will go from happy to sad in seconds and doesn't mind give you a little stink eye if necessary (look for em in the pictures below haha!).
So while things may not always go as planned or what we may always want, this session proved to me that the genuine love of a family will shine through any kind of weather... or the garden center of a big box hardware store.
Gutierrez Family, thank you for trusting me with your memories.
